Niche Applications and Flexible Devices for Wave Energy Conversion: A Review

چکیده

We review wave energy conversion technologies for niche applications, i.e., kilowatt-scale systems that allow more agile design, faster deployment and easier operation than utility scale systems. The converters markets analysed in this paper are classified into breakwater-integrated, hybrid, devices special applications. show emerging as a very vibrant landscape, with several such having now achieved operational stage, others undergoing full-scale sea trials. This also includes flexible devices, which started applications the 1980s close to commercial maturity. discuss strong potential of reducing costs improving survivability reliability Finally, we use WECs is supporting development utility-scale projects by accumulating field experience, demonstrating success stories grid integration building confidence stakeholders.
